Sonia S. Keeler

Sonia S. Keeler, 87, of 616 South Main St. died Saturday at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 17, 1914, daughter of Ignatius and Madeline Makovich, she moved to Lanesboro as a child and attended Lanesboro and Pittsfield schools. Mrs. Keeler owned and operated Lanesboro Boat and Bait with her husband, Howard F. Keeler, for many years. She also was employed by GE several years ago. She was known for her rock gardens, which had appeared in The Berkshire Eagle. She enjoyed gardening, going to tag sales, antiquing and reading. Besides her husband, whom she married July 17, 1937, she leaves a daughter, Sonia M. Massery of Pittsfield; a son, Stephen E. Keeler of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A private graveside service for Mrs. Keeler will be held in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
