Elsie B. Sweet

Elsie B. Sweet, 70, of Burke, N.Y., formerly of New Marlboro, died Dec. 23, 2001, at home. Born May 3, 1931, in Starksboro, Vt., daughter of Henry and Ila Flemming Bush, she was raised in the New Marlboro and Sheffield area and attended local schools. She worked on a farm with her husband in New Marlboro. She leaves her husband, Richard Sweet; three sons, Theodore and Dean Sweet of Burke, and Joseph Sweet, who is stationed in Korea with the U.S. Air Force; a brother, Leslie E. Bush of Mill River; a sister, Doris I. Matteson of Cheshire, and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Larry Sweet. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Mill River, with the Rev. Joseph Bishop, pastor, officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a family gathering at the church hall.
