David Smachetti, 63

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — David P. Smachetti passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, in Los Angeles surrounded by his family in their family home and in the arms of his sons.

He was 63 years old.

David was born on Aug. 23, 1957, in Pittsfield and is preceded in death by his grandparents and by his parents Allessandro and Patricia Smachetti. David is survived by Cynthia (Smithwick) Smachetti, his beloved wife of 33 years. He leaves four beautiful children and five beautiful grandchildren: his son Ashton Smachetti (and his partner Ellizebth Saucedo), his daughter Chelsea McIntosh (and her husband Adam), his sons Hayden and Hudson and his grandchildren Isabella, Sofia, Adeline, Noah and Eloise. David also leaves his brothers Paul and Bruce Smachetti of Pittsfield, his sister Sandra Madden of Grafton and friends and colleagues on the West and East coast.

David was educated in the schools of Pittsfield, graduating in 1975 with a vocational degree in autobody repair and a high school diploma from Taconic high school. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1985 and made his life with his soulmate Cynthia, marrying her in 1987. Both in Pittsfield and in Los Angeles, David worked in the restaurant management industry for many years. He loved being with and talking to so many people and worked extremely hard at every job he held. For the last 30 years, David worked in the recruiting field. In the last ten years, he was employed at Lucas Group where he was an Executive Senior Partner and Assistant Manager. He was determined to ensure new team members would close their deals and provided many with guidance and mentorship over the years.

David loved sports, as a kid playing organized baseball and football and rooting for the Orioles against his brother Paul who rooted for the Yankees. He loved watching college football, especially Notre Dame. David played and coached men's baseball, softball and coed softball teams.

David was a devoted husband, Dad and Papa. He would do whatever he needed to do to help someone and never spoke ill of anyone. He created a beautiful family and always loved and provided for them.
