Christopher Morey, 67

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Christopher B. Morey, 67, of Adams, lost his courageous battle with Renal Disease on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Pittsfield on June 8, 1953, a son of the late Bernard and Loretta (Brazeau) Morey. He attended schools in Adams and was a member of the first graduating class of Hoosac Valley High School in 1971. Chris was proud to be the scorekeeper for the undefeated NBL baseball team. He loved to joke and was voted class clown. He continued his education at Lowell Tech, the former North Adams State College and Berkshire Community College. He liked to teach and taught Emergency Management Technician Intermediate classes.

He first worked at ALADCO Laundry in Adams, then for the Adams Ambulance Service and North Adams Ambulance Service. He was a member of the Mt. Greylock Bowling League, the Maple Grove Civic Club, the Mountain View Club and Mensa. He liked the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots.

He was an avid reader, sometimes reading three books at once. He enjoyed a wide range of writers from Asimov, Baldacci, Evanovich, Herbert, JD Robb to JRR Tolkien. He read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy at least once a year, if not twice. He watched the history channel, CNN, Jeopardy and ESPN nightly. Prior to his last hospitalization he would say “I’m in good shape for the shape I’m in”.

He is survived by his wife, the former Laura M. Hajdas, whom he married on October 18, 1991; his son Matthew Morey of Adams; three brothers, Michael Morey and his wife Julia of Cheshire, Timothy Morey and his wife Cathleen of Lee and Peter Morey of New York City; nieces, Misha and her husband Michael Cornacholi of Worcester and Kaylee Morey of Pittsfield; one nephew Nicholas Morey of Lee and by numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his niece Marissa Morey.

Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance Service, 185 Columbia St., Adams, MA 01220 or to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
