Frances M. Jocher

Frances M. Jocher, 88, of 299 NW 52nd Terrace, Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield and Lanesboro, died Jan. 2 at the hospice in Jupiter, Fla. Born in Toronto on June 29, 1913, daughter of Jacob C. and Isabella Schwaner Petry, she was raised in Bellerose, N.Y., and graduated from local schools. She moved to Lanesboro in the early 1960s, and in 1973 to Pittsfield. She moved to Boca Raton in 1989. Mrs. Jocher and her husband owned the Country Style Motel in Lanesboro. After its sale, she worked at Berkshire Medical Center. She also worked in accounting at radio station WBEC. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Lanesboro and a member of the Quota Club and church groups. In retirement, she spent time with family and traveled. She enjoyed painting and was a volunteer at Berkshire Medical Center. Her husband, George A. Jocher Sr., died in March 1964. She leaves two daughters, Carolyn S. Koch of Pittsfield and Phyllis Portanova of Jupiter; a son, George Jocher of North Potomac, Md., 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
