Theodore Uyrus

Theodore Uyrus, 86, of 24 Water St. died Sunday afternoon at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Sept. 16, 1915, son of Joseph and Victoria Ruscdova Uyrus, he attended Adams schools. During World War II, he served with the Merchant Marines in the Pacific. Mr. Uyrus was first employed as a mail carrier for the Adams post office. He later worked as a carpenter for Harold Thiel Contractors and for GE in the ordnance department. He retired in 1977. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. He leaves his wife, the former Mildred M. Tosh; a son, David T. Uyrus of Wrentham; three sisters, Gladys Dubis of Adams, Nellie Miller of Pittsfield and Lila Porter of Oklahoma City, and three grandchildren. Following cremation, an inurnment service will be scheduled in Bellevue Cemetery at a date to be announced. MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME of Adams is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Uyrus also leaves three grandchildren, Haley, Anne and Gwendolyn Leigh Uyrus.
