Anthony A. Girgenti, 72

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Anthony Andrew Girgenti, 72 of North Adams, MA died on Thursday September 2, 2021 at Craneville Place in Dalton.

He was born in North Adams, MA on July 4, 1949, a son of Andrew and Angelina (Santelli) Girgenti. He attended local schools and graduated from McCann Technical High School with the class of 1969.

Anthony was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Navy. He was employed at Steinerfilm for many years until his retirement. Before that, he worked at Sprague Electric Co. Tony loved animals and especially cared for his dogs.

He is survived by two sisters- Judith Ozolins of North Adams, MA and Patricia McKee of West Booth Bay, ME and several nieces and nephews. His longtime companion, Susan O'Brien died in November of 2006.

Tony was a great friend. I worked with Tony at Sprague Electric and Steinerfilm. Tony was known a Papa to me. He would feed me all the time at work. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. Tony no more suffering and may you R.I.P.

Tony was a incredible, kind hearted man. He was the definition of mans best friend, I don’t think he ever met a dog he didn’t like, or a dog that did not like him. I was fortunate enough to get to know Tony when he worked at Tunnel city. He was such a kind soul! I hope he is at peace and pain free finally. The world lost a great man! My deepest condolences to his sisters.

Sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. We became neighbors only a short time ago Tony fell in love with my Boston Terrier Minnie and would spend much time just laying on the ground playing with her. Rest in peace my friend

So sorry to hear of Tony's passing ! He was great friend and one of my best customers. He loved his two Maltese unconditionally , they were his life. When they were gone he took care of a friend's dog (Mooky) a little black & white Poodle. The owner was unable to walk him . So Tony use to go to Adams almost everyday ,to take him out for a walk. Bring him to the vet when needed and payed for the visit. That was the type of guy he was. He will be sadly missed.
