Dorothy Seney, 95

Dorothy “Dot” Ellen (Simonton) Seney, 95 of Williamstown died on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.

She was born in Salisbury, CT. on September 7, 1926 a daughter of the late, Lester and Verna (Pennock) Simonton. Dorothy grew up and attended schools in Salisbury. She was a stay at home mom while her sons were growing up. She volunteered as a den mother for scouts, junior football, PTA, at St. John’s Church, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Women’s Exchange and American Cancer Society. When her sons were grown she attended NASC to become a teacher and went on to teach at Pine Cobble School, for 13 years retiring in 1985.

Her husband Fayne Gould Seney whom she married July 19, 1947 died April 24, 2020.

Dorothy and Fayne traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe. They were always taking classes to learn as much as they could. They remained active well into their 80’s and 90’s swimming, hiking, skiing and biking. Affectionately known as Granny, she was a kind and generous person with a strong sense of right and wrong. She enjoyed spending time with her family, always interested in what everyone was doing, gently offering suggestions. With the help of her family, she was able to stay in her own home until her death. She was always very appreciative of all the help she received. We will all miss her smile and sense of humor. Survivors include her two sons Allen Seney (Linda) of New Ashford and Robert “Rob” Seney (Diane) of Pittsfield, two grandchildren Jennifer Lescarbeau (Marc) and Lori Jayko (Jason), five great-grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Lescarbeau, Stephen, Stella and Lily Jayko.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A burial for Dorothy Seney will be held at the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetey on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM. The Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247 is in care of arrangements.

Allen, Rob - I'm very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I didn't know her I'm sorry to say, but I knew you, briefly, and if she was anything like her kind sons, then I did miss something indeed. Good thoughts to you.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dot passing. I remember she (and your father) were always so nice to my son and I when we lived next door so many years ago.
Thinking of your family and sending prayers.

To the Seney Family,
Our family is sad to hear of Dorothy's passing. She was a wonderful lady. My sons both had her in Pine Cobble as their Elementary Teacher. She was kind and caring to all her students. And made their learning so helpful. God Bless her and may she rest in peace.
Our Sincere Sympathy,
Caroline, Nathan, Matthew Martel and Suzette Martel Lyons.

I am sorry to hear of Dot's passing. As a child I used to play in her yard with her son. Years later I taught with her for eleven years at the Pine Cobble School. She was a great person and loved by all the students.
