Dena Escudero

Dena Escudero, 81, of 5 Pine St., Heaton Court, died Wednesday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in New York City on Feb. 8, 1920, daughter of Hugh and Anna Strandquist Gilleece, she attended schools there and was a 1948 graduate of Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing. She moved to Monterey in 1965, to Great Barrington in 1967 and to Stockbridge in 1977. Mrs. Escudero was employed in the health field in New York and worked as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at Fairview Hospital from 1965 until 1985. She also was a nurse at Simon's Rock College in 1974 and 1975, and worked at Country Curtains from 1985 until retiring in 1993. She leaves two sons, Mark J. Escudero of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Jeffrey H. Escudero of Reston, Va.; a daughter, Linda G. Escudero of Stockbridge; a sister, Anne F. Mayer of Stockbridge, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 at First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, with the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private.
