John S. Swistak, 73

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  John S. Swistak, 73, of Cheshire passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in Adams on April 2, 1948, son of Stanley G. and Antoinette Roy Swistak, he attended Adams schools and was a graduate of the Charles H. McCann Technical High School in North Adams.

John was an accomplished mechanic and was employed with several local businesses. His last place of employment was for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works, from which he retired after 10 years. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams.

A longtime motorcycle enthusiast he was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Club, and was a longtime staff member for the Fall Run. He was also a member of the Berkshire lodge of Masons in Adams, and a committee member for the Adams Agricultural Fair for many years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Alves, whom he married on May 27, 1967, they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this May; a daughter, Dawn Milesi and her husband, Rick, of Adams; a sister, Dolores Farrar and her husband, Ralph, of Cheshire; a brother, Stanley G. Swistak Jr. of Adams; five grandchildren, Ashley Street (James), Hannah Levante (Gregg), Madison Levesque (Zach), and their father, Robert Martin, and Meaghan Shepard, Jonathan Shepard and their father, Mark Shepard; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Missy Martin in 2008.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services and burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory can be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in care of TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
