Una K. Schwedner, 84

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Una Kate Schwedner, 84, of 877 Simonds Road, formerly of 138 Riverside Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Bronx, N.Y., on June 10, 1917, daughter of William George and Kate Penney Nichols Dykeman, she attended schools there, including Theodore Roosevelt High School and art school. She moved to Williamstown in 1974. Mrs. Schwedner previously was employed in the advertising industry and was a cartographer in Rosedale, N.Y., before her marriage to Arthur Thomas Schwedner on June 21, 1941. Her husband died Dec. 25, 1976. A homemaker, she attended First Congregational Church of Williamstown and was active in many church and retirement groups. She leaves a daughter, Donna Lee Chenail of Williamstown; eight grandchildren, Dari Anne Twigg, Stacey Lee Spear, Lance Thomas Alpi, Richard Arthur Chenail, Pamela Jean Shea, David Lewis Chenail, Michael Chenail and Celeste Chenail, and 15 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Schwedner will be held Tuesday at 11 at First Congregational Church of Williamstown, with the Rev. Carrie Bail, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in Patterson (N.Y.) Baptist Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested to First Congregational Church of Williamstown or to the North Adams elder center through the funeral home.
