Ralph Sherman, 91

Ralph passed away at his Florida home at 4831 Beacon Hill Dr, New Port Richey, Fla. 34652, after a long battle with Alzheimer disease.
He was born in Boston on Feb 3, 1931, son of Edwin and Laura Armstrong Sherman. He moved to Savoy at the age of 10 and was raised by Florence Peabody.
Joined the Navy at 17 and spent the next five years aboard the USS Worcester serving in the Korean War. He worked most of his life for Petricia Construction. After retiring he went to work at Crane and Co. for ten years. Finally taking a full retirement.
He served as a selectman in Savoy for 25 years. He was a builder by trade, building his home and the firehouse with a friend. He served as captain in the Savoy Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as President and treasurer of the USS Worcester reunion committee for years.
He served as Master of the Berkshire Lodge of Masons for many years. He received the Massachusetts Council of Deliberation Meritorious Service award and received his 33 degree in the Masons. He also was a member of O.E.S. of Franklin Chapter #92, serving as patron many times.
He married Carole (Frank) Sherman on July 22, 1960, they were married for 62 years. He leaves six daughters, Debra Mattimore (Fran), Donna Maynard (Robert), Susan Bleil (Ken), Denise McCarron (Andrew), Holly Crittelli (Dale), Colleen Gibeau (Dane), as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by six sisters and 3 brothers, his youngest brother, Richard Kenneth Sherman lives in Northampton.
A remembrance service will be held in the spring. Donations in his memory can be made to Savoy Fire Department or Gulfside Hospice of New Port Richey.
