Pauline C. Couse

Pauline C. Couse, 96, of Fort Myers, Fla., a longtime resident of Great Barrington, died Feb. 1 at Marriott Calusa Harbour Health Care Center in Fort Myers. She moved to Florida in 1970. Born in Norfolk, Conn., on Oct. 20, 1905, daughter of Vincenzo and Theresa Ré Castagnetti, she moved with her family to Great Barrington and attended schools there. Mrs. Couse was employed by Rising Paper Co., and later by the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. She was an accomplished seamstress, and was known locally for her decorated wedding cakes. While in Great Barrington, she was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Her husband, Jerome Edward Couse, whom she married June 3, 1929, in St. Peter's Church, died Sept. 27, 1995. She leaves a daughter, Marjorie C. Horelly of Great Barrington and Fort Myers; a sister, Christine L. Guarnieri of Great Barrington; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 4 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Fort Myers. Burial will be a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Housatonic, Mass. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, P.O. Box 8490, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
