Michael "Mike" Larabee

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  Michael “Mike” Andrew Larabee, 62 of Cheshire, passed away March 14, 2023 suddenly at home. Born in North Adams, MA on November 14, 1960 to Kenneth and Theresa Lanois Larabee, he was a graduate of McCann Technical High School.

Michael married his wife of 41 years, the former Lynn Lewitt on December 5, 1981. Their love was the true definition of soulmates. He was self-employed and co-owned Cheshire Auto with his brother, Chris Larabee.

If you knew Mike, you knew he had a passion for fishing. He was his happiest when he was fishing on his beloved bass boat, or teaching his grandchildren how to cast. In recent years, he discovered a joy in hunting, farming, and gardening on his farm, O’lo Creek Farm.

Outside his family, Mike’s other love was coaching sports. He coached Adams and Cheshire youth sports, as well as Hoosac Valley Athletics for over four decades. He has impacted thousands of kids over the years. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. His greatest role in life was being “Pa”.

Mike is survived by his wife, Lynn Larabee of Cheshire. Daughter, Kayli Manning and husband Trevor of Cheshire. Sons, Matt Larabee and wife Amy of Adams, Ryan Larabee and wife Caitlin of Cheshire, Dalton Larabee and wife Emily of Worthington, Jesse Larabee and wife Noelle of Adams. Siblings Donna Roberts, Chris Larabee, Kenneth Larabee Jr., and Deborah Rock. His beloved grandchildren; Rylin, Brogan, Jackson, Owen, Alexis, Logan, Aria, Lily, Banks, Rune, Viva and Walker. As well as his loyal hunting dog, Willow. Mike also leaves behind a large extended family and friends he called family.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5-8pm at Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire. Please bring your favorite stories of Mike.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Lynn Larabee in care of Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, PO BOX 445, Cheshire, MA 01225. All contributions will go to supporting memorial scholarships in the Adams-Cheshire community.
