Emil J. Kleiner Sr.

Emil J. "Dutch" Kleiner Sr., 83, of South Main Street,Freetown, a native of Adams, died Saturday at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born Dec. 24, 1917, son of Henry and Henrietta Wolfrum Kleiner, he attended local schools. Mr. Kleiner was first employed by GE in Pittsfield in the injection molding department. He transferred to its plant in Taunton, where he was shift foreman and molding manager. He was a member of the Freetown Lions, the Masons and the Elks, and a charter member of the Southeastern New England chapter of the Society of Plastic Engineers, where he was a board member and past president. He enjoyed gardening, raising livestock, making wine, playing cards and saltwater fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and playing golf. His wife, the former Cathleen Burke, died in 1996. He leaves a daughter, Carla Kleiner of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Emil J. Kleiner Jr. of Taunton; a sister, Ella Genesi of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; three brothers, Paul Kleiner, Max Kleiner and Alfred Kleiner, all of Adams, and two grandsons. The funeral for Emil J. "Dutch" Kleiner of Freetown will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at 11 at JEFFREY E. SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 550 Locust St., Fall River, Mass. Burial will follow in Assonet Burying Ground, Assonet, Mass. A brother, Gerhardt Kleiner, died the same day.
