Mary Elizabeth Filerius

Mary Elizabeth Filerius, 86, of 39 North Summer St. died Sunday at The Commons of North Adams, where she had been a client since September 1997. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Oct. 24, 1915, daughter of Joseph and Susana Kuzen Filerius, she came to Adams as a child and attended local schools. She graduated from Adams High School in 1933. She was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Corp., the Brightwater Paper Co. and the former Adams Nursing Home. She was most recently employed by Joanne's Bakery in North Adams, retiring in 1979. She was a communicant of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Parish and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She leaves several cousins, including Catherine Schumer of Tower City, Pa., who was her caretaker. A Reading in the Roman Catholic Tradition will be offered Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. in MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and the family suggests that donations in her memory be made to the St. Thomas Church Fund at P.O. Box 231, Adams, MA 01220.
