Megan Miller, 36

Megan Elizabeth (Shurtleff) Miller, 36 of Pownal, VT died on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Meg was born in North Adams on August 26, 1987 a daughter of George Shurtleff and the late Karen Ann Lamoureux.

Meg attended Hoosac Valley High School and graduated with the class of 2006. Meg was last employed at Middlebury College in the facilities department and formerly at Williams College in the facilities department for seven years.

Meg lived each minute of life with passion, and a whole lot of love and laughter. Being outdoors and enjoying everything Vermont has to offer was Meg’s favorite pastime. From summer days at camp on Lake Champlain to walking her beloved dogs to the top of the hill on their property, Meg always appreciated and was at awe of the beauty that surrounded her. Where Meg was most free was on the back of her snowmobile, music blasting in her helmet, riding alongside her best friend, soulmate and husband. Just the two of them- with miles of fresh trails to ride.

Meg’s love for her friends, that became family, was palpable. Blue sky days on the pontoon, sitting around the fire, or adventures in the woods, Meg always had a smile and light that would radiate to those around her. She had a way of making the ones she loved, feel so special. Her approach to life inspired others to take advantage of each and every breath and truly live each moment.

Meg is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Hopkins Miller whom she married on September 27, 2015 in Pownal VT. Lucky in love, Chris and Meg have a love that surpasses any expectations, boundaries or lifetime. To witness their love is to know what true love is.

Megan is also survived by her sisters Stephanie Fallon (Steve Fallon), Breanna Shurtleff and Jasmyne Forest. Nephews Darren Bonneville, Cameron McCauley, Aiden Fallon, Jackson Fallon and Beau Miller. Nieces Grace Tator, Robbie Miller, Lucy Tator and Rosalie Tator. In addition she is survived by her grandmother Paula Murphy, father-in-law Albert Miller and mother-in-law Cara Miller; sisters-in-law Kate Miller (Reed Foehl) and Sara Tator (Robert Tator) and brothers-in-law Josh Miller (Erin Miller) and Ryan Miller (Erin Miller) as well as many loving aunts, friends and her loved dogs Mason and Cooper.

NOTICE: A celebration of Megan’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Faith Christian Fellowship Church, 82 Main Street, Pownal, VT 05261. There are no calling hours. All are welcome to a continuation of celebration of her life at the Pownal American Legion. Private burial for family only will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes to be used for a memorial to honor Megs love of outdoors sport.
