Ruth Lancto

Ruth Lancto, 90, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Williamstown, died Feb. 15 at Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria of congestive heart failure. Born Nov. 13, 1911, in Williamstown, daughter of William and Harriet Gardner Northup, she attended local schools. After raising their family in Massachusetts, she and her husband, Alvin Lancto, moved to Virginia in 1978 to live closer to their adult sons. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994 and a son, Robert Lancto, in 1969. She leaves two sons, Richard Lancto of Bowling Green, Va., and Craig Lancto of Alexandria; a brother, William Northup of Williamstown; a sister, Bertha Young of Williamstown, seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
