Gary J. Skubel

Gary J. Skubel, 49, of 39 Wells Road died early Sunday morning at home, following a long illness. Born in Adams on Jan. 6, 1953, son of Thaddeus and Elaine Noel Skubel, he attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School and was a 1970 graduate of the former Adams High School. He also graduated from Berkshire Community College in 1973 and Bentley College in 1975. In 1976, he became a certified public accountant and for the last 10 years operated his own business as a CPA until his illness. Mr. Skubel was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas in Adams and a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks BPOE 1335. He was an avid sports fan. Besides his parents, of Adams, he leaves a son, Joshua Skubel of Adams; a daughter, Rebecca Skubel of Burlington, Vt.; and his longtime companion, Carol Syrett, and her son, Garry, with whom he made his home. A Lodge of Sorrow followed by a Celebration of Life for Gary J. Skubel will take place Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Adams Lodge of Elks, 63 Center St., Adams. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Hoosac Valley Football Booster Club, through TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
