Ferdinand Carl Sherman, 95

Ferdinand Carl Sherman (Ferdy) age 95 of Adams Massachusetts, died April 6th 2025 at the North Adams Commons of natural causes. Born in Cheshire Massachusetts July 16th 1929, he was the son of the late Warren and Josephine Curtis Sherman.

Ferdy graduated from Adams High School and entered the Army in 1951 and honorably discharged in 1956. Ferdy worked at the Adams Supermarket, Adams Waste Water Treatment Plant, retired from the Berkshire Gas Company as a dispatcher. After retiring he continued working for the town of Cheshire Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Adams Alert Hose Number One, Berkshire Masonic Lodge being Grand Master and participant for over 60 years, Adams Lions Club, Elks Club, and the Stamford Valley Golf Course. Ferdy bowled on several leagues over his lifetime. He also enjoyed carving wood figures receiving several awards for his work.

Ferdinand is survived by his first wife Priscilla (Dean) Gurney. He was predeceased by his 2nd wife of 50 years, Mabel Griswold of Adams who died on May 6, 2024. He was also predeceased by his son, Gary Curtis Sherman of Gaylord, Michigan and his brothers, Baldie, Charlie, Percy of Adams and sister Hazel of Las Vegas, NV. He leaves his daughter, Diane Saldo, and David of Stamford, VT, step daughter, Debbie Dyndor Fougere and John of Clearwater, FL, five grandchildren Carrie, Fallon, Justin Saldo, Nathan and Zachary Sherman and three great grandchildren, Tucker, Aelius, Logan and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services with full military honors for Ferdinand “Ferdy” Sherman will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00 at Bellevue Cemetery in Adams, MA. with a reception to follow.
