Maneera F. Ameen, 94

CHESHIRE, Mass. —  Maneera F. “Edna” Ameen passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in North Adams on September 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Kassim and Margaret Ameen, and attended North Adams schools.

Edna started her career as an office manager at Zayre’s Department Store in North Adams. She went on to join her mother and brother in operating Angelina’s Sub Shop in Adams, working there until her retirement. She was a member of the American Druze Society and Franklin Chapter 92 Order of the Eastern Star.

Maneera was very involved with her family and spent many days vacationing and attending gatherings with them. Some of her most treasured memories were visiting her father’s homeland in Lebanon, as well as many winter vacations in Florida, California and Hawaii. In her later years she loved to spend time at the family home on Cape Cod.

She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed preparing Lebanese dishes for her family members, especially on Christmas Eve, when she hosted the family gathering. Some of her other favorite pastimes were gardening at her home in North Adams and reading various novels.

Maneera leaves behind her devoted siblings, Christine Maher of Williamstown and Edward Ameen (Barbara) of Cheshire, and her sister-in-law Mary Ameen of Pittsfield. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom she cherished deeply. She was predeceased by four sisters-Dorothy Ali, Jeanette Ameen, Julia Haddad and Nazeerah Sookey; and by two brothers, Fuad Ameen and Richard Ameen. She was also predeceased by her in-laws- Isa Ali, Michael Haddad, David Sookey, Dr. Galeb Maher and Mary Beth Ameen.

The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver Grace Hitt for her loyalty and loving care over the past five years. We would also like to thank the staff of Kimball Farms Nursing Center and HospiceCare in the Berkshires, whose professionalism and constant communication were a source of comfort to our family.

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice through the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220. To leave a message of condolence, please go online to www.paciorekfuneral.com
