Prosper Lussier

Prosper Edward "Brownie" Lussier, 94, of 161 West Shaft Road died Saturday evening at home. Born in Williamsburg on Oct. 29, 1907, son of Prosper E. and Albina Cote Lussier, he moved to North Adams as a child and attended the former Notre Dame and Houghton schools. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard from 1932 to 1935. Mr. Lussier was employed by the former Hoosac Cotton Mill and by the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1972. He was a longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Rose Marie Urbano, whom he married Oct. 3, 1925, died Nov. 29, 1964. He leaves three daughters, Lorraine A. Leonard of North Adams, with whom he made his home, Charlotte M. Robert of Troy, N.Y., and Zephyrhills, Fla., and Mary Joan Clements of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two sons, Francis Lussier of Lady Lake, Fla., and Donald Lussier of Easthampton; 20 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Three other sons are deceased, Edward William Lussier, who died Feb. 2, 1981; Kenneth John Lussier, who died Dec. 16, 1977, and Paul David Lussier, who died April 11, 1973. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. with a Mass at 2 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Shriners' Children's Hospital in Springfield in care of the funeral home.
