Jane M. Gilman, 94

ADAMS, Mass. —Mrs. Jane M. (Kolis) Gilman, 94, of Adams, passed away Tuesday evening, May 20, 2025, at her home, with her family at her side. She was born in Adams on March 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Mathew and Catherine (Strzepek) Kolis and attended Adams schools. 

Jane worked as a machine operator at the former Jarisch Paper Box Co. in North Adams until she retired. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She enjoyed playing cards and cooking for her family. 

She is survived by her sons, Robert A. Gilman and his wife, Irene, of Adams, and Allen R. Gilman, also of Adams; three grandchildren — Chad Gilman, Cory Gilman and his wife, Hillary, and Kimberly McCormick and her husband, Scott; five great-grandchildren — Addison, Paisley, and Maverick Gilman, and Miley and Taylor McCormick;  her sister-in-law Dolores Kolis of Adams, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Gilman, who died on November 8, 1989, and by her daughter, Tammy Perreault, who died on August 10, 2022. The last of thirteen siblings, she was also predeceased by six brothers — Edmond, William, Theodore, Francis, Donald, and Frederick Kolis, and six sisters — Adele Carignan, Isabelle Lanski, Lillian Blazejewski, Mildred Zatorski, Ilene LaFrance, and Blanche Hoellerich. 

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA 01201. I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Cioci Janey. Her passing brings to an end the generation of the 13 aunts and uncles we knew and loved so much! Cioci Janey was a quiet and wonderful aunt and she will be missed very much. Sending prayers to comfort you at this difficult time.
