Raymond J. Moffett, 93

CHESHIRE, Mass. —
Raymond J. Moffett, 93 of Cheshire, passed away June 3, 2025 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita E. Moffett, who he married on August 7, 1954.
Born on July 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Cyril J. and Agnes M. LaBonte Moffett.
He attended local schools in Pittsfield. A Navy veteran of 5 ½ years during the Korean War, he served with the sixth and seventh fleets, aboard the USS Betelguese AK 260, as second class petty officer and was honorably discharged in 1954.
He was employed at Beloit Jones Corp from 1959 to 1979, Valeron Corp from 1979 to 1983, and General Electric from 1983 to his retirement in August 1991.
He was a long time dedicated communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Cheshire.
He is survived by his son, Richard B. Moffett (Nancy) of Adams; daughter Annette M. Puccio (Gary) of Cheshire. Five grandchildren, Jennifer Puccio Dascanio (Shane) of Cheshire, Corey Puccio (Taylor) of Oxford, NC, Katie Moffett Zavattero (Mike) of Peru, Matt Moffett (Kylie) of Peru, and Aimee Moffett Lucenta of Franklin, MA. One step-granddaughter, Jennafer Segala of Savoy. Ten great-grandchildren; Camille, Elliott, Gabrielle, Jillian, Brooks, Jakob, Hadley, Ava, Riley, and Brinley. He is also survived by his siblings; William Moffett, Albert Moffett, Rosemary Hopkins, Linda Creamer and Shirley Moffett all of Macon, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Saldo, Jeanette Halley, Claire Placer, Elaine Haggerty and brother Wilfred Moffett.
Mostly known as Pops, he always said his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He never passed up an opportunity to spend time with family, sing a song, or spend time with friends at the senior center. He was so loved by everyone he met, and always had a smile on his face.
A huge thank you to the Cheshire Senior Center, where Pops loved to go and enjoy his friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A visitation will take place Friday June 13th from 10am-11am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Burial with full military honors will follow at Cheshire Cemetery. Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
