Dana L. Bromley, 66

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. Dana L. Bromley, 66, of South Hero, VT, formerly of Pittsfield and Adams, MA died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his home.

He was born in Pittsfield on November 13, 1958, a son of the late Ralph and Tula (Rogers) Bromley. After High school he attended Bentley College and the former North Adams State College.

Mr. Bromley was a veteran having served with the United States Air Force from 1984 until receiving his honorable discharge as Sergeant in 1990.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, Dana worked as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration at Worcester Regional Airport until relocating to Burlington International Airport until retiring in 2013.

Dana’s compassion and kind heartedness didn’t go unnoticed as he always made time for his children and volunteered at many animal rescue shelters and took in elderly cats while working at a therapeutic horse farm.

He is survived by his son Kyle Bromley (Lindsay Girard); his daughter Alyssa Bromley and her fiancé Ronnie Tatro; his step daughter Jamie Barthe and her fiancé Trevor Ciempa; a brother Kirk Bromley of Wolcott, CT; a sister Linda Downey and her husband James of Williamsburg, VA; his granddaughter Alyviah Bromley; his nephew and great nephew Matthew Downey (Ashley) and Lucas Downey and by his companion and former wife Susan Barthe.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Susan Haigh.

Funeral services and burial will be private for the family. There are no calling hours.

Dana was a wonderful, dear friend whose presence made it lighter, funnier, and far more interesting. To know him was to appreciate his quick wit and easy charm.
We grew up together, stumbling into adulthood with more enthusiasm than experience. Friday nights at the Hilton bar in Pittsfield— two nineteen year olds in sports coats, smoking Tiparillos, trying our best to look like men who had life figured out. We didn’t, of course, but we laughed like we did. And those laughs carried us through countless late nights at Teo’s, drinking 7&7’s and telling stories that only got better each time we retold them. We both worked at K-Mart and I recall one Friday night Dana was working in the appliance department. I was walking down to see him from across the store I could hear Jay Ferguson “Thunder Island” blaring and right away knew it was Dana that had cranked up the volume. I always think of that moment when I hear that song today. We managed to see each other in Burlington, Vermont in 2012, picking up right where we left off. And even when distance made visits rare, Facebook kept the friendship alive — the jokes, the memories, the steady thread of conversation that reminded me how lucky I was to have him in my life. I miss him — his humor, his warmth, his unmistakable spark. Dana was a friend you don’t replace. You simply carry the memories forward and feel grateful for every one of them. Thank you for being my friend, Dana. You made the journey better.

Linda' and kirk -- I met yours brother a few years back - I believe at the time he was living in adams... at the time had been assigned to northern Berkshire by the trial court. I mentioned that I had gone high school with you two, he always greeted me when we crossed paths.. MY CONDOLENCES AT YOUR LOSS. May he rest with peace!

Very sad. This is way too early. A man with great spirit and a great smile. He was a cornerstone tennis player on an undefeated PHS tennis team. Rest in peace. My condolences to all the family. I am so sorry for your loss.
