Michael J. Wood Sr.

Michael J. Wood, Sr., 73, of Clarksburg, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on January 16, 1952, in North Adams, Massachusetts, to Lawrence and Alda (Melchiori) Wood, and was the youngest of four brothers.
He graduated from Drury High School and went on to attend radiology school, where he met his wife of 50 years, Faye. Michael worked as a radiology and ultrasound technologist for more than 20 years at North Adams Regional Hospital and Fresenius Healthcare. He also served as a selectman for the Town of Clarksburg for several years, where he took pride in contributing to his community.
Michael was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather—affectionately known as “Bumpa” to his grandchildren—whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He had a gentle heart and just enough stubbornness to make life interesting and those around him smile. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and remained an enthusiastic New England sports fan throughout his life—always cheering for the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, and Boston Red Sox. His gentle nature, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Faye (Callahan) Wood of Clarksburg; his daughters Kimberly Rougeau and her husband Eric of Clarksburg, and Kate Levesque and her husband Todd of Littleton; and his son Michael Wood, Jr. and his wife Kacie of Clarksburg. He is also survived by his three brothers, Larry and his wife Stephanie Wood, Dick and his wife Debbie Wood, and Don and his wife Gail Wood. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kyle and Madison Rougeau, Delaney and Kaelyn Levesque, Brooke Reynolds and Emmalie, Camden, Weston, and Olivia Wood. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Alda Wood.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning, October 9, 2025, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, MA. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place afterward at Boston Seafood Restaurant in North Adams, where family and friends are welcome to share memories and honor Michael’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, Inc.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers, Heather and Donna, and to his hospice nurse, Deb, for their kindness, compassion, and care. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him.
