Sarah W. Henry, 82

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Sarah W. Henry passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 31, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

She was the daughter of Stuart C. Henry, former Director of the Berkshire Museum, and his wife, Edith W. Henry.

Sarah was born at House of Mercy Hospital (now BMC), in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on April 22, 1943. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Smith College, Northampton.

Until her recent retirement, she was employed at the Mount Greylock Regional School District in Williamstown, where she lived until her death.

Sarah gravitated to libraries, working at North Adams State in 1990 before starting at Mt. Greylock, where she was a beloved Assistant Librarian for 29 years. She also loved reading, music, and vintage clothing.

She was adventurous and compassionate, and a sympathetic listener.

Sarah leaves her sister, Elizabeth S. H. Chaussat, of Bordeaux, France, and her brother, Charles S. Henry, and his wife, Cynthia S. Jones, of Mansfield Center, Connecticut. "Sarie" was much loved by friends and family and will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements will be private, according to her wishes.

Recollections & Sympathy For the Family
Post Comment
Sarah was a longtime patient and friend. She was the most affable person I’ve known. My staff and I always looked forward to her visits at the office guaranteed many laugh’s and a hug or two. She will always be remembered in my prayers. My sincere condolences to her family.

I enjoyed having Sarah as a librarian when I was at MGRHS and as a fellow NB chorale member later in life. RIP.
