Walter Kochanski, Jr., 73

ADAMS, Mass. —  

The family of Mr. Walter Kochanski, Jr. 73, are saddened to announce his passing on Monday, December 15, 2025, peacefully at his home.

He was born in Adams on March 12, 1952, son of the late Walter and Antonina (Kaczmarek) Kochanski. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former St. Joseph’s High School with the class of 1969, in North Adams. He was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard for several years.

Mr. Kochanski worked for the former Berkshire Metal Spinning, in Clarksburg and the former Mobil Station, in Adams. Walt was an avid bowler, bowling both at Mt. Greylock Bowl and the former Ken's Bowl in Pittsfield. He also loved to fish and often made deep sea fishing trips out of Gloucester, MA with friends and family. He will be most remembered for his keen sense of humor and his heart of gold.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kochanski of Fort Mill, SC; his son, Gregory Kochanski of North Adams; his former wife and the mother of his children, Anita Kochanski of North Adams; his brother, John Kochanski of Hartfield, VA; his sister, Irene Gilman of Adams; two grandsons, Kaden and Mason and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sons, Anthony and Steven Kochanski; by his sister Janina Poplaski and by two brothers, Richard and Jezyk Kochanski.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
