John P. McCormick, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Patrick McCormick, 76, of North Adams, died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025.

He was born in Providence, R.I., on Oct. 21, 1949, the son of Bertha Florence (LaFlamme) and John David McCormick.

John graduated from Our Lady of Providence Seminary High School and then Our Lady of Providence Seminary College, both in Providence. He was a respected Latin teacher at Gow School in South Wales, N.Y., and later at Pine Cobble School in Williamstown for many years, where he was known for his creative learning environment, which included the Roman Model Project.

John was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He was known for his stylish dress and well-tied bow ties.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Cote of Chepachet, R.I., a niece, and a nephew. He will also be missed by extended family and friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian burial will take place at St. Elizabeth's Church at a later date. Mary, Joan and family, John was truly one of a kind. I will miss our chats and phone calls. He became a good friend and I so appreciated him being my biggest cheerleader.
