Cheryl Ann Lanoue, 67

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Cheryl Ann (Wallis) Lanoue, 67, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Whitinsville, Mass., Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Marjorie and Richard Wallis. Throughout her life, she was known for her quiet strength, tenderness, and devotion, qualities that became the steady anchor of her family's life.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She touched the lives of those around her with joy, gentle humor, thoughtful care, and a deeply nurturing love. To her children, she was not only a mother but a steady anchor for their spirits, shaping who they are through her example of faith, perseverance, and compassion.

Her greatest pride and most cherished accomplishment was her family. She created a home that was warm and welcoming, alive with conversation, learning, and the comforting aromas of fresh baking and home-cooked meals. A gifted homemaker and natural teacher, Cheryl was a voracious reader and avid researcher. She was rarely without a book or journal in hand, and her family fondly remembers her surrounded by well-worn pages, quietly reflecting and recording her insights.

Cheryl was a committed follower of Christ and was devoted to the pursuit of the knowledge of God through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Her steady, abiding trust shaped her life and provided strength to those around her. Even in grief, her family holds fast to the hope she cherished: that this farewell is not forever, but only the end of the beginning.

She found joy in tending her garden, watching the birds, and spending time outdoors.

Above all, she delighted in being "Grandma," cherishing every moment spent playing with her grandchildren, Noel Vigeant and Jeremiah Lanoue.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Lanoue; her children, Michael Lanoue and his wife Lucy Lanoue, Nicole Vigeant and her husband Francis Vigeant, Abigail Lanoue, and Grace Lanoue; her cherished grandchildren, Noel Vigeant and Jeremiah Lanoue; her parents, Marjorie and Richard Wallis; and her siblings, Richard Wallis Jr. and Brenda Martins. She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who will carry forward the gifts she so generously gave.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230. Visiting hours for immediate and extended family will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and for community friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl's memory may be made payable to Grace Church Congregational, 1055 Williams Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201, or on their website https://www.gracecongregational.org/giving/
