Francis E. Gaule, 78

POWNAL, Vt. — Francis Eugene Gaule, 78 of Pownal, VT died Wednesday February 18, 2026 at Southwest VT Medical Center in Bennington.
He was born in North Adams, MA on December 22, 1947, a son of Eugene Paul Gaule and Bernice (Fitzgerald) Gaule Dube. He graduated from McCann Technical High School.
Francis was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War having received two bronze stars, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He worked as an electrician for Comalli Electric until his retirement. Francis was a member of the Greylock Community Club and the American Legion in North Adams. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ann (Coody) Gaule, whom he married on February 26, 1993; one daughter, Melissa (Ted) Dobbert of Stamford, VT and one stepdaughter, Renee King (Jonathan) Epler of Springfield, VT. He also leaves four grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Kathleen Selvedt; a brother, Richard Gaule and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Gaule.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Francis Gaule will be Monday February 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
