Walter R. Bloniasz, 91

STAMFORD, VT -- Walter R. Bloniasz of Poplar Drive died on March 27, 2026, at his home with family members by his side. He was 91.

Mr. Bloniasz was a man of few words, an astute observer and attentive listener who enjoyed seeing others having fun.  "Uncle Walter was a quiet man who grinned like he'd just pulled something off," one of his nephews recalled.

Mr. Bloniasz moved to Stamford with his wife, the former Carolyn Cameron of Petersham, following his retirement in 1996 from Avery Dennison Corp. in Framingham, where he was for 18 years director of corporate transportation, a post he had previously occupied for 11 years at Reed & Prince Manufacturing Co. of Worcester. His expertise in transportation logistics brought him invitations to speak at Northeastern University's School of Transportation and to teach at Central New England College.

From 1951 to 1955, Mr. Bloniasz served in the US Air Force. He was a graduate of the service's Logistics School and later attended Bryant College, having received his GED in 1952.

Walter Raymond Bloniasz was born in Douglas, MA, on Dec. 10, 1934, son of Stanislaus and Bertha (Magiarka) Bloniasz. He had nine siblings, all of whom predeceased him. An accomplished baseball player in his youth, he was named to his local American Legion team at age 14.

In addition to his wife, whom he married in 1982, he leaves a son and two daughters from a previous marriage, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Bloniasz's request, no calling hours or services will be offered. Burial in the US Veterans Administration cemetery in Bourne will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in Mr. Bloniasz's memory may be made to the SVHC Foundation of Bennington, VT, or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA. I had the great pleasure to work with Walter at Avery Dennison. He was a wealth of knowledge and had a great sense of humor. I will always remember his smile and kindness to the new kid on the block.
Rest in peace Walter.
