Joan A. Reopell, 94

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Joan Virginia (Andrews) Reopell, 94, of Pittsfield, MA, died on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born on September 5, 1931, in North Adams, the only child of Louise (Menard) and Clifford Andrews. Joan attended St. Ann’s Academy in Marlborough, MA and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams with the Class of 1949.

She married the late Nelson Joseph Reopell on June 12, 1954, and was a devoted mother of four children. Besides raising a family and creating a loving home, she also worked part time as an administrative assistant at the old Freeman Junior High School and at McCann Technical High School, both in North Adams. Joan was also very active in the community. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield, MA, a volunteer at The Glass House at Tanglewood, and a volunteer for the Red Cross providing transportation for dialysis patients. She enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles.

Married for 66 years, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Nelson, who died on December 31, 2020. Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly Reopell Foote and her husband Bill, of Otis; her devoted sons, Jeffrey Lawrence Reopell and his wife Laurie, of Pittsfield, Michael Alan Reopell and his wife Gina, of North Adams and Russell Curtis Reopell of Arlington, VA; her six grandchildren, Nicole, Brian, Alison, Kristopher, Jason and Renee; and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Private services for Joan Reopell will be held at a later date with burial at Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
