Cecelia A. Maher

Cecelia Agnes Maher, 93, of 165 Cottage St., Chelsea, formerly of Beech St., died Sunday at home following a brief illness. Born in Winooski, Vt., on Jan. 17, 1909, daughter of William and Agnes Tetrault Hardacker, she attended schools there. The family moved to Providence, R.I., and later to Putnam, Conn., and then to North Adams. She was last employed as the manager of the snack bar at the Mount Greylock Bowl for about 12 years, retiring in 1972. Previously, she assisted her husband in the operation of the William O. Maher Luncheonette, Confectionery and Cigars in North Adams. Her husband, William O. Maher, whom she married June 10, 1929, died Dec. 1, 1961. She leaves four sons, Robert H. Maher of Chelsea, with whom she made her home, Joseph D. Maher of Suffield, Conn., Theodore F. Maher of Windsor, Conn., and William O. Maher of North Fort Myers, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral will take place Saturday at 10:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. A funeral Mass will be at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church Parish Center. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
