Cheryl Jane Carpenter-Briggs, 75

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —
Cheryl Jane Carpenter Briggs, 75, of North Adams, MA died Wednesday August 12, 2026, at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Boston, MA, on May 19, 1951, a daughter of the late Stanley W. and Doris (Jones) Carpenter.
Cheryl was raised by her aunt and uncle, Edith and Albert Carpenter. She graduated from the Perkins School for the Blind and went to Iowa State College for music. Cheryl was a homemaker and most importantly a mother.
Her proudest roles were those of being a wife, mom, and grandmother. Once you met her, she considered you a friend and loved speaking with people. She was a collector of many things and most proud of her nativity scenes and Christmas village set ups. Cheryl enjoyed all music, especially musicals; Les Miserables being her favorite. She loved learning about history and reading the Outlander series. Cheryl thought of Claire and Jaime as friends, you would have normally found her at home enjoying her peppermint tea with all her treasures that brought her joy through everything. She had peace and love with God and Jesus Christ. She was always with them and they were around her and she lived and loved with their grace.
Cheryl leaves behind her husband Richard Carpenter- Briggs, whom she married in August 2005, her daughters Sarah Sawyer (Alan Brown) of Statesville, NC and Mary Sawyer-Bolton of Lincolnton, NC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Autumn Bolton, Joseph Bolton, Noah Bolton, Sawyer Bolton, Taven Sawyer-Deane, Austin Brown. She also leaves her brother Mark Carpenter, cousins, Judy Clark, Tim Clark, and Pam Clark, and her church family. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley W. and Doris (Jones) Carpenter; her aunt, Edith Carpenter; uncle, Albert Carpenter; and her sister, Constance Gay Carpenter.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Cheryl will take place Saturday August 15, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes- West Chapels, 521 West Main St, North Adams, MA. Calling hours will take place the same day from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Burial will take place in the family plot in Ludlow, VT at a later date.
