Ronald E. Lagowski, 75

SAVOY, Mass. —

Mr. Ronald E. Lagowski, 75, of Savoy, died Sunday evening, August 23, 2026 at North Adams Regional Hospital.

He was born in Adams on September 28, 1950, a son of the late Adolph and Mildred (Kivior) Lagowski. He attended local schools, graduating from the former Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1968. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the former North Adams State College (now MCLA) in 1973.

Ron worked briefly as a teacher at St. Mary’s School in Hoosick Falls, NY. He then worked as a bus driver for Dufour, Inc. for 18 years. He also operated A. Lagowski and Son Trucking, which was founded by his late father, and continued working until several months ago. He also operated a small farm and cut and sold firewood for many years.

enjoyed working outdoors and loved going to country fairs.

He is survived by his brothers, Donald Lagowski of Cheshire, and Robert Lagowski of Adams; nieces Lisa Folino and her partner Richard LaBonte, and Angela Manning and her husband Edward; his great nephews Matthew Gwozdz, Steven Gwozdz and his wife Ashley, and Eli Manning; his cousin Frank Lagowski, second cousin Barbara Socha, as well as several great great nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Friday, August 28th at 11:00 AM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the funeral at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice. I worked with Ron at dufours quite a while ago. We used to chat a lot on our breaks. He was so nice, and I enjoyed talking with him.

Ron was a truck driver who came through the scalehouse at SMI almost daily. He was a very nice person and always asked if I wanted a coffee. Heart breaking.
