WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. —  Doris Florence (Hamilton) Jones, 95, of Williamstown, died in the loving care of her family on September 19, 2026. Born in North Adams, MA on February 9, 1931, she was the daughter of Grant E. and Elizabeth (Klein) Hamilton.

Doris attended local schools in North Adams. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and obtained a bachelor's degree at North Adams State Teacher’s College. After teaching in the North Adams and Clarksburg schools, Doris transitioned to working in banking. She was employed with the Williamstown National Bank and former First Agricultural Bank among others, for many years. She also assisted with bookkeeping at Al’s Auto Body Shop, her son’s business, and was a bookkeeper at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Williamstown.

An avid bridge player, Doris also enjoyed cooking (her language of love), gardening and puzzling. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family and many friends.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Mark Jones (Donna) of Charlestown, RI, Richard Jones (Debbie) of Williamstown, Carolyn Jones (Lucy Pavalock) of North Adams, Eileen Jones of Sausalito, CA, and Susan Polo (Jeff) of Terrebonne, OR; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by her brother, Grant J. Hamilton, and sister, Elizabeth Freiberg.

The family will host a "Thing in the Spring" to celebrate Doris's life.
