PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Dr. Bruce G. Evenchik, 78, of Pittsfield, died tragically on Saturday, September 26, 2026, while walking his dog in Kennedy Park in Lenox. Born on November 18, 1947, in Elyria, Ohio, Bruce was the son of Marvin Adelson and Lois Barbara (Gelman) Evenchik.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan. He was a longtime ophthalmologist and co-founder of Berkshire Eye Associates in Pittsfield. Active in his community, Bruce served as a trustee at Hancock Shaker Village. He was known for his sense of humor and genuine kindness.

His beloved wife of 48 years, Reba Lynn (Hough) Evenchik, died early this year. He leaves three sons, Jason Evenchik (Delphine) of Aix-En-Provance, France, Craig MacBain of Philadelphia, and Benjamin Evenchik (Martha) of Melrose, MA; one daughter, Meghan MacBain (Paul Probine) of Dalton, MA; seven grandchildren, Liam Probine, Raphael Evenchik, Braedyn Probine, Mina Evenchik, Alexandra MacBain, Ari Evenchik, and Naira Evenchik; and a sister, Bonnie Ivancic (William).
