Joseph Peter Domenichini, 58

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joseph Peter ‘Joe-Pete’ Domenichini of Lenox, MA passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026 after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Joseph S. and Mary M. (Folino) Domenichini of North Adams.
He was born on November 18, 1967 and educated in North Adams Public Schools, after which he attended BFAIR in North Adams for many years. In 2014 he relocated from North Adams to Pittsfield where he resided in a group home administered by Berkshire County ARC (BCARC). In May of 2025 he moved to another BCARC home in Lenox where he resided until his passing.
Joe was a happy-go-lucky guy who loved life and all those around him. Despite being non-verbal, he was very friendly and outgoing, loved to laugh, and everyone knew what he liked. He ran on Dunkin, loved cheeseburgers and fries, and all Italian food, especially meatballs. Joe had a passion for music and was always ready to dance. He was always up for watching sports with his father, and like his dad, was a fan of the NY Giants and Boston Celtics. Going for long car rides made Joe’s day.
Joe loved to mimic those around him and often copied every movement you made. Because everyone in the family wore a watch, he loved to wear one too. It was one of the things that he was known for and made him extra special to us.
Besides his parents, Joe leaves behind his three adoring sisters; Paula Flynn of Attleboro, MA, Jo-Ann Shettles and her husband Harold of Old Saybrook, CT, and Maria LaValley and her husband David of Windsor, MA. He also leaves his nieces Elizabeth (Flynn) Burton and her husband Michael of Seekonk, MA, Kelly (Flynn) Wagner and her husband Ben of Attleboro, MA, nephew Ryan Shettles and his wife Kaitlyn of Moodus, CT, and niece Haley Shettles of Derby, CT.
In addition, he is also survived by great-nieces and great-nephews; Alexis Flynn Burton, Paisley Flynn Burton, Jack William Wagner, Oliver Flynn Burton, and Hallie Elizabeth Wagner. Joe also leaves behind numerous cousins as well.
Words cannot begin to express our appreciation for the outstanding care from the house managers and staff of BCARC who have cared for Joe-Pete over the last 12 years. All have become part of our extended family and we will be forever grateful for everything done to ensure his happiness and wellbeing. We especially want to acknowledge Norma, Robin, Brooke, Tash, Paul and AB.
The family also wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses at Berkshire Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion.
