Laura Nolan

Laura Nolan, 93, of 600 Laurel St., the Village at Laurel Lake, died Saturday afternoon at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation, where she had resided since Jan. 21. Born in Housatonic on July 6, 1908, daughter of Ulisse and Maria Datan Premerlani, she was a 1926 graduate of the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. She studied cosmetology at Parker Herbex Corp. in New York City and received her license to practice in 1931. She moved to Lee in 1936. Mrs. Nolan was a member of St. Martha Mary Sodality in Lee, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and ceramics. She also assisted elderly friends, driving them on errands and to appointments, and made weekly visits to nursing homes. Her husband, John J. Nolan, whom she married Nov. 26, 1936, in Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic, died March 15, 1960. She leaves a son, James F. Nolan of Lee; two daughters, Mary Ellen Tressy of Lenox and Nancy La Bonne of East Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Edith Hart of Lee; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 23, at 10 at Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic. Burial will be in the spring at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, Elder Services of Berkshire County or the Lee Fire Department, all in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
