Frances W. Friel

Frances W. Friel, 90, formerly of 33 Noblehurst Ave., died March 10 at Ebenezer Senior Center in Rock Hill, S.C., where she had resided for several months. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 23, 1912, daughter of Arthur and Lucy Noble Wentworth, she graduated from Pittsfield High School and Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y., where she earned a bachelor of arts degree.She moved to South Carolina in January 1999.Mrs. Friel worked at GE in the power transformer division for more than 30 years. A sports enthusiast, she was a faithful Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She leaves a son, Theodore "Ted" Friel of Tega Cay, S.C.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
