Frances Trudeau

Frances Ann Trudeau, 77, of 4 Isbell St. died Sunday at Williamstown Commons, where she had been admitted March 11. Born in North Adams on July 25, 1924, daughter of Charles E. and Florence G. Billings Chilson, she graduated from Drury High School. She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army as a private first class, clerk typist from 1944 to 1946. She was decorated with the American service, victory and good conduct medals. She was employed as a nursing assistant at the former Adams Rest Home for several years. She was then employed by the Northern Berkshire Community Action Association until her retirement. Mrs. Trudeau was a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW Ladies Auxiliary in North Adams and the American Disabled Veterans Association. Her former husband, Raymond Dorval Trudeau, died March 22, 1983. She leaves a daughter, Vanessa Rae Martelle of North Adams; a son, Gary Lee Trudeau of North Adams, with whom she made her home; a stepdaughter, Gail Ann Fritz of Springfield, Mo.; a stepson, Raymond D. Trudeau Jr. of Amsterdam, N.Y.; three sisters, Edith Briggs and Elaine Gaspardi, both of North Adams, and Linda Davis of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, William Chilson of Columbus, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Ann Marie Collins, died Dec. 5, 2000, and a brother, Donald Chilson. Services will take place Friday at 11 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Burial will take place at a later date. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals. Memorial donations are suggested for the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 996, North Adams, through the funeral home.
