William H. King

William H. King, 89, of Lake Avenue died Sunday at the Village at Laurel Lake in Lee. Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 14, 1912, son of Harry and Nellie Curtain King, he was a 1930 graduate of the former Searles High School. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in Scotland. He was employed by New England Telephone Co. in Great Barrington for 38 years. He retired as a line foreman in 1975. Mr. King was a communicant of St. James' Church. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Wyantenuck Country Club for more than 63 years. He was also a member of the James A. Modolo Post VFW in Great Barrington. He leaves his wife, the former Alma Barsam, whom he married Sept. 11, 1957, in St. Mary's Church in Longmeadow. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis King. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 3, at 10 at St. Peter's Church, Great Barrington, with the Rev. William Wallis, pastor of St. Peter's Church, as celebrant. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 2, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Church in care of the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
