Helen Oleen

Helen Oleen, 99, formerly of Long Pond Road, died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. She had been a resident of Kimball Farms in Lenox since 1997. Born in New York City on May 13, 1902, daughter of Karl and Ellen Lundgren Johnson, she attended schools there. She married Herbert W. Oleen in 1921 and, in 1943, they moved to Long Pond Road, where they lived for more than 30 years until moving to Sarasota, Fla. After her husband's death in the early 1990s, she returned to the Berkshires and resided in Great Barrington and Stockbridge until moving to Kimball Farms. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. She leaves two daughters, Eunice Raifstanger of Alford and Helen Doris Adamsen of Syracuse, N.Y.; a son, Herbert W. Oleen of Sarasota; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
