Janet Cheney

Janet Cheney, 68, of 360 West Housatonic St. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center, where she was admitted Sunday. She was a former resident of 312 Walnut St., North Adams. Born in Reading, Pa., on Oct. 19, 1933, daughter of Oscar and Anna Rappaport Pincus, she attended schools there. A homemaker most of her life, she was employed as a secretary to Irving Berlin, the late songwriter, for several years. Her husband, William Leonard Cheney, whom she married Aug. 19, 1967, died Oct. 20, 1998. She leaves a brother, Martin Lewis of Shreveport, La. Graveside services will take place at a later date in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
