William F. Ellis

William F. Ellis, 70, of Bradford, Vt., formerly of Pittsfield, died April 3 at Brookside Nursing Home in Bradford after a long illness. Born Sept. 5, 1931, in Peabody, son of Delma W. and Eunice Pingree Ellis, he moved with his family in 1940 to Vermont and graduated in 1947 from South Royalton High School. He lived in Guilford, Vt., for many years before moving in 1968 to Pittsfield, where he was an apartment building supervisor. Prior to that, he was a truck driver for Pettingill's and Agway in central Vermont. His wife, the former Mildred Hart, whom he married Feb. 2, 1962, in Brattleboro, Vt., died June 17, 1997. After his wife's death, Mr. Ellis resided in Newbury, Vt., until moving to Brookside three years ago. He leaves a stepdaughter, June Hartman of Unionville, Va.; two brothers, James A. Ellis of Hartland, Vt., and Robert D. Ellis of Fletcher, N.C.; and four sisters, Edith M. Whitney of Tunbridge, Vt., Marjorie R. Martinez of Sarasota, Fla., Virginia L. Piper of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dorothy A. West of Orange. Mr. Ellis was predeceased by a brother, Donald P. Ellis. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 21, at 2 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 235 Dalton Division Road.
