Patrick F. Tobin

Patrick Frank Tobin, 76, of 568 South Main St., Centerville, a native of Adams, died of a heart attack Saturday at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret T. and John Curtin, at 99 Grove St. Born April 10, 1926, son of Patrick J. and Rose Frank Tobin, he was a 1944 graduate of the former Adams High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master's degree in engineering from Northeastern University. He lived in Hamden, Conn., for most of his working life and retired to Centerville in 1991. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was involved in the Okinawa and Ryukya Island campaigns. Mr. Tobin was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp. in Hartford, Conn., from 1956 until retiring in 1991. Before that he worked for Stone & Webster in its engineering department. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Osterville and a member of Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Club, Hamden Post American Legion, the Osterville Veterans Association and American Legion Post 188 of Sandwhich. His wife, the former Rosita Ann Farrell, whom he married Sept. 9, 1950, in St. Thomas' Church, died Oct. 10, 1999. Besides his sister, he leaves two daughters, Eileen Marie Hughes of Dedham and Sheila Ann Fowler of Centerville; four sons, Timothy Tobin of Paul Smiths, N.Y., James Tobin of Centerville and Otisfield, Maine, Patrick J. Tobin of New York City and John F. Tobin of Duxbury; a brother, Thomas J. Tobin of Des Plaines, Ill.; another sister, Rosemarie Curran of Stamford, Vt., and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John F. Tobin, and a sister, Marie P. Tobin.
