Joshua A. Mead

Joshua Adam Mead, 27, of 930 East Colfax, Denver, formerly of 8 Meadow Lane, died Friday after a long illness. Born in Westfield on June 23, 1974, son of Laurie Walker Martin Mead and the late George F. Martin Jr., he attended Monument Mountain Regional High School. He was employed as a painter by local contractors. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and drawing. Besides his mother, of Lee, he leaves his stepfather, Robert A. Mead Sr., who adopted him after the death of his father; three brothers, Jesse Mead of Sandisfield, Robert A. Mead Jr. of Ashley Falls and James D. Mead of Housatonic; two sisters, Rebecca A. Mead and Jennifer L. Mead, both of Lee; his maternal grandmother, Agnes Hayden Walker of Housatonic, and paternal grandmothers, Mary Bromley Martin of Ashley Falls and Nellie Johnson Mead of Great Barrington. Joshua was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Robert Walker; maternal grandparents, Bertrand and Dorothy Rose Codwise, and paternal grandfathers, George F. Martin Sr. and Andrew Mead. Services will be conducted Thursday, April 25, at 10 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church of Great Barrington. Burial will follow in Ashley Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the McGee Unit of Berkshire Recovery Center at the Hillcrest Campus of Berkshire Medical Center or to Keenan House in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
