Stanley Wintemberg

Stanley Wintemberg, 89, of 24 Dean St. died Sunday at North Adams Commons, where he had resided since last year. He had previously resided in Hinsdale and in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on May 13, 1912, son of Adam and Tekla Gucwa Wintemberg, he attended schools in Hinsdale and in Dalton. Mr. Wintemberg was employed as an inspector by GE for almost 38 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Cheshire Baptist Church, the Cheshire Lodge of Masons and Eastern Star, the Cheshire Senior Center, and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. His wife, the former Alice M. Pelletier, whom he married April 20, 1944, died Feb. 15, 1998. He leaves a niece and a nephew. The funeral will be conducted Thursday, April 25, at 11 at Cheshire Baptist Church by the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cheshire Baptist Church in care of the funeral home, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225.
