Mary Tildsley

Mary "Mae" Tildsley, 81, of 151 Christian Hill Road died yesterday at home. Born in Allentown, Pa., on May 21, 1920, daughter of Herbert and Agnes Rooney Stewart, she moved to Great Barrington in 1932 and graduated from the former Searles High School. She received her nursing degree from the former St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield. She moved to Los Angeles in 1950 and returned to Great Barrington in 1975. Mrs. Tildsley was employed as a registered nurse at Fairview Hospital until her retirement in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of the Berkshire County Nurses Association. Her husband, John Tildsley, died in 1970. She leaves a cousin, Mary Kane of Beverly, N.J. The funeral will be tomorrow, May 1, at 10 at St. Peter's Church, with the Rev. William Wallis officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, is in charge of arrangements.
